CWFA co-presents “Monkey King 2” Premiere in Toronto before the Chinese New Year
Chinese New Year celebration in Toronto has started with a special screening of “Monkey King 2,” the new movie sequel starring Aaron Kwok and Gong Li. CWFA is honored to co-organize the event on Feb.4th, at the Markham & VIP Cineplex Theater.
The Monkey King is a perennial Chinese hero and his story a perennial favorite with Chinese audiences. And as China enters its New Year of the Monkey, he is in the limelight even more.
At a special screening in Toronto, Chinese Consul General in Toronto, Xue Bing, Senator Victor Oh, MPP Han Dong, Councilors Sandra Racco, Willie Woo and Godwin Chan, togher with many local Chinese business leaders,attended. It was a full house premiere.
The Toronto screening reflects CWFA’s efforts to promote Chinese films by timing domestic releases to coincide with overseas ones.
“Monkey King 2” will also come to U.K., Germany, Los Angelas, New York, Sydney, etc.
Domestic Chinese audiences will have to wait until February 8, the first day of the Lunar New Year, to watch the movie.
CWFA “China Night” During Toronto International Film Festival
On September 16th, CWFA successfully hosted a Red Carpet Gala “China Night” to celebrate the establishment of CWFA and the on-going collaborations of filmmaking between China and the West.
Themed “Partnering for Success”, the Gala showed some fantastic movie trailers and previews of coproduction films, and announced new China-west partnerships on film-making. At the end of the Gala, CWFA honored those who have made contributions, with the purpose to encourage collaborative spirit between filmmakers who devote themselves to different cultures through filmmaking and creating the best art of its kind for a global audience.
